Next week Jews celebrate the holiday of Purim, a day that recalls the deliverance of the Jewish people from their enemies nearly 2,400 years ago. The Purim story, found in the biblical book of Esther, tells of Queen Esther’s brave rescue of the Jewish people from the evil plans of Haman, the king’s top advisor.

One of the messages of Purim is that in a world with no shortage of "Hamans," we need more "Esthers" committed to standing humbly before God and seeking to defend His people in the face of difficulties. As we think about those difficulties that linger for Israel and Jews to this day, let us join in prayer for God’s protection and provision – and for the strength to be like Esther.
  • Pray that God would protect Israel from her modern-day Hamans – Iran’s Ahmadinejad, the terrorists of Hamas and Hezbollah, and all those filled with anti-Semitic hatred. “The Lord protects and preserves them – they are counted among the blessed in the land – he does not give them over to the desire of their foes” (Psalm 41:2).
  • As Israel Apartheid Week continues on college campuses across the nation this week, pray that organizers and participants won’t be successful in swaying public opinion against Israel. “Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment” (Proverbs 12:19).
  • As President Obama and Prime Minister Netanyahu prepare to meet next week, please pray that their conversation is fruitful and reinforces the strong alliance between the U.S. and Israel. “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1).
  • Please pray that next week’s AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) policy conference – which will bring together Congressmen from both sides of the aisle, world leaders, pro-Israel activists, and thousands of others – will be marked by peace and unity. “The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace” (Psalm 29:11).
  • As Rabbi Eckstein travels in the coming weeks, pray for his safety. “But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you” (Psalm 5:11).

Psalm 33:1
·         "Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him.

El quebrantamiento de Pedro

If you are unable to see the message below, click here to view .

In His Eyes

July 23, 2012 Mary Southerland Today's Truth I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be ( Psalm 139:14-15 , NIV). Friend to Friend It was my first day of teaching second grade. While standing at the classroom door, greeting parents and children, I felt a tug on my skirt. I looked down into the beautiful blue eyes of Sammy, one of my new students.  His mother, who was standing beside Sammy, looked at me and said, "I guess you've heard about Sammy.  Good luck!" As she walked away, Sammy said, "She's right. I'm dumb and mean and can't read or write."  Lisa was a tall, blonde and beautiful young woman with zero self-confidence. Lisa was...
