Dear,
In just a few weeks, on April 15 as the world marks Yom HaShoah—Holocaust Remembrance Day—we will be hosting a great global gathering of Believers for “I Will Not Forget.” We are going to stand together to say to the world that we support and defend Israel and the Jewish people. We are going to remember the darkness, but we are also going to pledge to be the light! We are going to show God's love to His Chosen People in a way that they have never seen and heard it before...and it is going to make a huge difference.
God is greatly
blessing this effort with His favor. The former president of Israel,
Shimon Peres, has already recorded a message for this special day. My
friend, Benjamin Netanyahu, will be doing so in just a few days, and so will
Nobel Prize winner, Elie Wiesel. In addition, we are featuring contents
from the “Lights in the Darkness” segment of the Friends of Zion Heritage
Center experience. This will be a powerful message that will never be
forgotten.
Thousands
of churches all around the world have signed up to be part of “I Will Not
Forget.” They will host congregations and small groups who will gather
for this prophetic day. In addition, we will be live-streaming a
broadcast on our website, and three satellite networks—God TV, the Church
Channel, and Inspiration Network International—will be broadcasting this
special program. This is by far the largest single-day event we have ever held, and I urgently need your help right now. We have made a commitment to the churches that have agreed to participate that we will not take up an offering or do any fundraising as part of “I Will Not Forget.” But the costs of preparing materials, promoting the event and bringing all the pieces together are huge. We need to raise $100,000 immediately so that this need can be met while we continue all of our outreaches to bless God's Chosen People. So far 423 friends have given $39,196 to meet this need. |
The Danger in Being a Christian: It began as a Jewish sect; fierce persecution only helped it spread Today's reading: Acts 8 Acts 8:1 On that day a great persecution broke out against the church at Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria. In some countries, a person who becomes a Christian forfeits a good education and job. And in a few countries, a person who converts risks his or her life. One church historian estimates that more Christians were martyred in the twentieth century than in all preceding centuries put together. Yet, strangely, more often than not, intense persecution of Christians leads to a spurt of growth in the church. An ancient saying expresses this phenomenon: "The blood of martyrs is the seed of the church." The First Big Advance For a while, the new faith enjoyed popular favor. But very soon it involved grave risk. In the book of Acts, the persecution that produced the first Christian martyr, St...
