Acudamos a la Fuente

Para nosotros, como creyentes, nuestro contentamiento debe ser guiado por la actitud interior y las decisiones que tomamos, en vez de las circunstancias externas. Pablo había aprendido este secreto, y por eso podía tener gozo y paz en cualquier situación, ya sea que estuviera rodeado de amigos o aislado en una prisión romana, o que tuviera mucho o estuviera padeciendo grandes necesidades.

El apóstol entendía lo que significaba vivir en Cristo y tener a Cristo viviendo en él (Jn 15.1-9; Gá 5.22, 23). Había tomado una sencilla pero inteligente decisión de fe, recibir vida de la Fuente y, como resultado, tuvo la seguridad de que lo que él poseía en su interior nunca podría serle quitado. Confiaba en su identidad como hijo del Todopoderoso, con pleno acceso a la vida abundante que el Señor Jesús ofrece.

Quiero desafiarle a hacer algo: esta semana, cuando algo amenace con robarle su contentamiento, elija sacar de la fuente de Dios; tome la decisión de dejar de sacar de otras fuentes, y de tratar de tener el control. Cuando se dé cuenta de que se está poniendo nervioso, ansioso o airado, deténgase y diga: "Señor, tú eres mi fuente, y saco de ti el poder para ser amable. Saco de ti el perdón que necesito para perdonar en estos momentos. Saco de ti el amor que necesito expresar". Esta decisión consiste en confiar plenamente en Él.

Preste atención y verá cómo Dios calmará su espíritu, y le dará la confianza que necesita si acude únicamente a Él. Se sorprenderá de su propia actitud: si usted lo busca desde adentro --no carnalmente--, el Señor Jesús le dará la capacidad de responder como Él quiere.

Reflection on Genesis 44:33 Sometimes we get a second chance. When we do, it’s important to seize the opportunity. That’s what Judah did. When his brothers wanted to kill Joseph, Judah didn’t rescue Joseph but instead suggested that they sell him as a slave (see Genesis 37:26–27 ). His second chance came when Benjamin’s life appeared to be in danger. This time Judah put his own life on the line to protect his half brother, Rachel’s other son. Perhaps this commitment was taken into account in the blessings that God inspired Jacob to give his sons; eventually the Messiah came through Judah’s descendants (see Genesis 49:10 ). God often gives us second chances in life. When he does, we need to take advantage of the opportunity and set things right.
