Evidencia de crecimiento espiritual

Tengo un amigo que por cierto tiempo fue consumidor de drogas. Hace poco, su familia se dio cuenta de que esta actividad había cesado, aunque él no la había dejado deliberadamente. ¿Por qué ­se preguntaban­ pareció desaparecer su deseo de seguir comprando más droga?
La razón era que mi amigo estaba más satisfecho con el Señor. Ya no necesitaba lo que el mundo le ofrecía para sentirse bien. ¡Qué ejemplo tan excelente de crecimiento en Cristo!
Además de encontrar satisfacción en Dios, hay muchos otros indicadores de crecimiento que son evidentes para el creyente. Por ejemplo, perdonar se vuelve más fácil con el tiempo. Pensemos en nuestro Salvador, quien pidió a Dios que perdonara aun a quienes lo habían crucificado.
Asimismo, a medida que maduremos, nuestra fe aumentará. Dios nos ama, y con misericordia y delicadeza desarrolla nuestra confianza en Él.
Otra señal de un caminar más estrecho con Cristo es un interés mayor por la condición espiritual de los demás. Y, por último, a medida que nuestra relación con el Señor se profundiza, tendremos más deseos de obedecerle. Este deseo no nace del temor, sino del amor a nuestro Padre Celestial. Del mismo modo, cuando pequemos, tendremos un corazón contrito y humillado.
¿Está usted satisfecho espiritualmente? ¿O tiene un hambre cada vez mayor e insaciable de Jesús? Si piensa que ya ha caminado lo suficientemente con Cristo, está cometiendo un terrible error. Se está perdiendo de la gran plenitud y emoción que se experimentan al estar cerca de Él.

Reflection on Genesis 44:33 Sometimes we get a second chance. When we do, it’s important to seize the opportunity. That’s what Judah did. When his brothers wanted to kill Joseph, Judah didn’t rescue Joseph but instead suggested that they sell him as a slave (see Genesis 37:26–27 ). His second chance came when Benjamin’s life appeared to be in danger. This time Judah put his own life on the line to protect his half brother, Rachel’s other son. Perhaps this commitment was taken into account in the blessings that God inspired Jacob to give his sons; eventually the Messiah came through Judah’s descendants (see Genesis 49:10 ). God often gives us second chances in life. When he does, we need to take advantage of the opportunity and set things right.
