La verdad en cuanto a los creyentes

Cuando acepté a Cristo como Señor y Salvador de mi vida, alguien me dijo: “Defiéndete ahora lo mejor que puedas”, lo cual no es un consejo ni bíblico ni útil. Poco después, fui discipulado por cristianos fieles que me enseñaron la verdad en cuanto a la vida del creyente.
Un creyente se identifica como hijo de Dios. Por medio de la oración, tenemos acceso al Padre en todo momento, y podemos vivir confiados en que cumplirá cada una de sus promesas. Ya no somos etiquetados como “pecadores”, pues hemos sido convertidos en santos —en personas salvas por gracia, y separadas para los propósitos de Dios.
Un creyente está posicionado en Cristo. El Espíritu de Dios habita en nosotros para que podamos vivir en santidad como lo hizo Jesús. El pasaje de hoy utiliza la metáfora de la vid para describir esta relación. Nos dice que el Señor es la vid y nosotros las ramas conectadas a Él, alimentándonos de su poder.
La misión de un creyente es mostrar a Cristo al mundo. Nuestra viña debe producir el fruto del amor, gozo, paz, paciencia, benignidad, bondad, fe, mansedumbre y templanza (Gá 5.22, 23). Cuando nuestro carácter y nuestra conducta reflejan estos aspectos de la naturaleza del Señor Jesús, ayudamos a los demás a ver la hermosura de una relación con el Señor.
La verdad acerca de los creyentes es que no tenemos que “defendernos ahora lo mejor que podamos”. Dios obra por medio de sus hijos para lograr sus buenos propósitos.
