Why did students for life have fake blood thrown on them?

Manhattan Declaration partners with a faith-based organization dedicated to the promotion of a Christian worldview to offer exclusive opportunities to our signers or promote worthwhile efforts. In return, they support our ongoing efforts to promote life, marriage and religious liberty. We hope you appreciate the opportunity to learn about these coalition partners.

Dear Friends,

We just had fake blood thrown at us.

No, I'm not kidding.

Recently I received an update from Students for Life Rocky Mountain Regional Coordinator, Lauren, updating me on what is happening on the ground in Albuquerque, and I can't believe what she said. She told me that pro-lifers there who have been holding signs outside of early voting polling centers have had "fake blood thrown at them, had their signs kicked downed, been sprayed down with water guns, and have been harassed!"

What could cause pro-abortion folks to act like that towards pro-life volunteers?

The answer is that tomorrow, Tuesday, November 19, Albuquerque's voters are ready to pass an ordinance that will ban late-term abortions in the city, closing two of the final four late-term abortionists in America.

Just the other night, Students for Life members at the University of New Mexico partnered with local activists and made over 6,000 live phone calls to Albuquerque citizens, each with a voice and a story of their own.

And right now we have pro-life student volunteers bussing in from Phoenix, Denver, Four Corners, and others from all over the southwest - so many in fact, that I may not be able to pay for all the vans needed to get them there!

The harassment our pro-life students are enduring is immense. And I'm worried that without your voice of support, some might turn away and turn back.

Make no mistake: the abortion industry is livid. They know that if Students for Life and the pro-life movement is successful tomorrow in Albuquerque, the momentum we gathered in Austin, Texas this summer will simply continue to roll forward.

This is not your average petition. We are on the cusp of a major win in Albuquerque that will wipe out precisely half of the late term abortion venues in the nation. Your friends on Facebook and Twitter, your neighbors, your family -- if there was ever a time to stand with Students for Life from wherever you are this is it.

In addition, can you pray for the courageous pro-lifer students and adults in Albuquerque? Last week, our friends at the Susan B. Anthony List released some awesome TV commercials and pro-life groups are uniting on the ground, but we need your help to encourage our student leaders and pray for vi

Thank you for all of your prayers and petition thoughts!

God Bless,

Kristan Hawkins
President
Students for Life of America

PS:  The harassment our pro-life students endure every day on their campuses, not just in Albuquerque, is so bitter. When the paid staff and pro-abortion boosters are throwing fake blood and spraying our pro-life volunteers with water guns, you know the abortion industry is on the ropes.

PPS: But by signing our Petition to End Late-Term Abortion in Albuquerque, you're sending a message from your home that means you stand with our more than 760 pro-life groups on college campuses and volunteers from around the country.   When I show your name this weekend to our students, linked with hundreds of thousands of others, I know it will lift their spirits in an instant. Thank you and God Bless You for that act of hope!

The Danger in Being a Christian: It began as a Jewish sect; fierce persecution only helped it spread

Acts 8 Acts 8:1 On that day a great persecution broke out against the church at Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria. In some countries, a person who becomes a Christian forfeits a good education and job. And in a few countries, a person who converts risks his or her life. One church historian estimates that more Christians were martyred in the twentieth century than in all preceding centuries put together. Yet, strangely, more often than not, intense persecution of Christians leads to a spurt of growth in the church. An ancient saying expresses this phenomenon: “The blood of martyrs is the seed of the church.” The First Big Advance For a while, the new faith enjoyed popular favor. But very soon it involved grave risk. In the book of Acts, the persecution that produced the first Christian martyr, Stephen, ironically brought about the advance of Christianity outside its Jewish base. Forced out of stormy Jerusalem, the scatterin...

In His Eyes

July 23, 2012 Mary Southerland Today's Truth I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be ( Psalm 139:14-15 , NIV). Friend to Friend It was my first day of teaching second grade. While standing at the classroom door, greeting parents and children, I felt a tug on my skirt. I looked down into the beautiful blue eyes of Sammy, one of my new students.  His mother, who was standing beside Sammy, looked at me and said, "I guess you've heard about Sammy.  Good luck!" As she walked away, Sammy said, "She's right. I'm dumb and mean and can't read or write."  Lisa was a tall, blonde and beautiful young woman with zero self-confidence. Lisa was...
