El valor del discernimiento

Si usted hiciera una lista de las cosas que más quiere en la vida, ¿sería un espíritu de discernimiento una de ellas? El Señor da un gran valor a este atributo, y quiere que todos lo tengamos. Si no lo tenemos, tomaremos decisiones equivocadas. El discernimiento es la capacidad de hacer buenos razonamientos al darse cuenta de lo que no es obvio con facilidad. Por ejemplo, ¿puede usted señalar la diferencia entre el legalismo y la libertad? Dios nos llama a vivir de acuerdo con nuestras convicciones personales, pero no todas ellas son mandatos morales para todos los creyentes. Debemos ser capaces de reconocer la diferencia que hay entre ambos.
El discernimiento es necesario para distinguir lo bueno de lo mejor. Dios tiene el plan perfecto para cada uno de nosotros; sin embargo, hay una multitud de opciones buenas frente a nosotros. Por ejemplo, suponga que le han ofrecido dos empleos. Ambos parecen prometedores, pero solo uno de ellos es lo mejor que Dios tiene para usted.
Es obvio, considerando estos dos ejemplos, que nuestra gran necesidad en cuanto a discernimiento implica ser capaces de comprender lo que Dios nos está diciendo. Cuando usted enfrente una decisión, ¿cómo sabe si Dios le está hablando, o simplemente está escuchando sus propios deseos o razonamientos?
El tiempo para desarrollar discernimiento es ahora mismo. No espere hasta que tenga que tomar una decisión crítica. Comience hoy a llenar su mente con la Palabra de Dios. Pase tiempo con el Señor en compañerismo íntimo. Cuando más lo conozca, mejor podrá discernir su voz.

Reflection on Genesis 44:33 Sometimes we get a second chance. When we do, it’s important to seize the opportunity. That’s what Judah did. When his brothers wanted to kill Joseph, Judah didn’t rescue Joseph but instead suggested that they sell him as a slave (see Genesis 37:26–27 ). His second chance came when Benjamin’s life appeared to be in danger. This time Judah put his own life on the line to protect his half brother, Rachel’s other son. Perhaps this commitment was taken into account in the blessings that God inspired Jacob to give his sons; eventually the Messiah came through Judah’s descendants (see Genesis 49:10 ). God often gives us second chances in life. When he does, we need to take advantage of the opportunity and set things right.
