El evangelio que nos ha sido encomendado

Imagine que usted está parado junto a una piscina, viendo a sus hijos que se preparan para nadar. El más joven le pide que sostenga algo: un cubo de plástico sucio. La mayor, su hija, le hace una petición parecida, y luego le entrega una gargantilla de ópalo, una reliquia que perteneció antes a su abuela. Lo más probable es que usted no se preocupará demasiado por proteger el juguete, pero probablemente guardará la joya con gran cuidado. La manera como nos ocupamos de lo que tenemos, revela el valor que le damos.
Vemos este principio en la parábola de Jesús sobre el amo que, antes de marcharse, confió a sus trabajadores diferentes sumas de dinero. Los dos que las invirtieron fueron después elogiados por el uso inteligente de los fondos. Sus esfuerzos demostraron que valoraban el capital y a su amo. El tercer trabajador, sin embargo, simplemente enterró su parte en la tierra, y lo único que “ganó” fue una dura reprimenda y la pérdida del poco capital que había tenido.
Al igual que estos hombres, nosotros somos responsables de algo mucho más valioso que el dinero. Dios nos ha confiado el mensaje más importante de la vida, el evangelio de Jesús. Y somos responsables de lo que hacemos con él. Nuestra “inversión” implica tanto la manera en que aplicamos la verdad del evangelio a nuestra propia vida, como si la compartimos con los demás.
¿Se alimenta usted con la Palabra de Dios y la obedece diariamente? Él nos ha mandado a compartir su mensaje de salvación con un mundo que sufre y está necesitado, haciendo discípulos a todas las naciones. En la medida que escuchemos y obedezcamos, demostraremos cuánto valoramos el evangelio.
