¿Cómo escucha usted la Palabra de Dios?

La Biblia contiene información importantísima para todos los seres humanos, pero las personas la interpretan de maneras muy diferentes. El pasaje de hoy identifica a cuatro tipos de personas: Los que tienen…
  • Una mente cerrada. Esto no se refiere exclusivamente a los incrédulos. Los cristianos, también, pueden escuchar de manera pasiva, sin la intención de poner en práctica lo que oyen. La semilla no puede germinar porque el terreno es muy duro. Esos creyentes son superficiales, hasta que deciden prestar atención a Dios y obedecer.
  • Una mente nublada. Están representados por el suelo rocoso; escuchan la Palabra y se emocionan. Pero después no dedican tiempo para estudiarla, echar raíces y permitir que la verdad de Dios penetre en sus corazones. Por tener poco fundamento espiritual o conocimiento de Dios, tienen dificultades para sobrellevar los rigores de la vida.
  • Una mente afanada. Los afanes de la vida son para el cristiano lo que son los espinos y la maleza para un jardín. Una mente intranquila tiene poco o ningún espacio para que la Palabra de Dios brote y florezca.
  • Una mente dedicada. Dios puede hacer grandes cosas por medio de alguien cuya mente sea como el suelo fértil. Solamente una persona dispuesta a escuchar y aprender puede ser transformada.
A todos nos gustaría tener la bendición mencionada en la lectura de hoy —una gran cosecha de lo sembrado. Pero, para que eso sea cierto en nuestra vida, necesitamos evaluar sinceramente si tenemos una actitud dispuesta a aprender. Como dijo Jesús: “El que tenga oídos para oír, oiga”.

Reflection on Genesis 44:33 Sometimes we get a second chance. When we do, it’s important to seize the opportunity. That’s what Judah did. When his brothers wanted to kill Joseph, Judah didn’t rescue Joseph but instead suggested that they sell him as a slave (see Genesis 37:26–27 ). His second chance came when Benjamin’s life appeared to be in danger. This time Judah put his own life on the line to protect his half brother, Rachel’s other son. Perhaps this commitment was taken into account in the blessings that God inspired Jacob to give his sons; eventually the Messiah came through Judah’s descendants (see Genesis 49:10 ). God often gives us second chances in life. When he does, we need to take advantage of the opportunity and set things right.
