PRAYER POINTS

While some in the international community continue to show their harsh anti-Israel bias, we, as Christians and Jews, stand firm in our faith, stand firm for Israel, and rejoice in the promises God has made. "This is what the Lord says: ‘I will return to Zion and dwell in Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the City of Truth, and the mountain of the Lord Almighty will be called the Holy Mountain.’" (Zechariah 8:3-5)
  • Pray for peace around the world. May all of God's creation live justly, in community with one another, and in the light of His love. "How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity!" (Psalm 133:1)
  • Pray for all of the Fellowship-sponsored programs in Israel, and around the world. We ask that, with God's help, they will continue to be lifesaving and life-enhancing for impoverished Jews and Jews who live in danger. " “‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself" (Exodus 19:4).
  • Pray for safe travels for Rabbi Eckstein and Yael Eckstein as they travel the U.S. and return to Israel next month. May God be at their side. "By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night" (Exodus 13:21).
  • As international tensions rise concerning Iran and their nuclear ambitions, pray that God will grant world leaders wisdom and that ultimately peace will reign. “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety” (Psalm 4:8).
  • Pray for wisdom for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, for President Obama, and for all world leaders who truly seek peace. "Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?" (2 Chronicles 1:10)

The Danger in Being a Christian: It began as a Jewish sect; fierce persecution only helped it spread

Acts 8 Acts 8:1 On that day a great persecution broke out against the church at Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria. In some countries, a person who becomes a Christian forfeits a good education and job. And in a few countries, a person who converts risks his or her life. One church historian estimates that more Christians were martyred in the twentieth century than in all preceding centuries put together. Yet, strangely, more often than not, intense persecution of Christians leads to a spurt of growth in the church. An ancient saying expresses this phenomenon: “The blood of martyrs is the seed of the church.” The First Big Advance For a while, the new faith enjoyed popular favor. But very soon it involved grave risk. In the book of Acts, the persecution that produced the first Christian martyr, Stephen, ironically brought about the advance of Christianity outside its Jewish base. Forced out of stormy Jerusalem, the scatterin...
